Eastenders is one of the british telivision drama that i watched and in this i noticed that the target audence is at a wide span, so therefore is a very popular drama watched by all types of gender and age. This is because there are all kinds of characters in the drama that everyone can realate to eg young couples. old couples, homosexual couples, or even single parrents. this drama realates to every kind of audeince and also due to the fact that Eastenders have been running for a very long time.
The episode i watched was on the 3rd january 2011
in this episode i saw that there was around 4 diffrent stories being illistrated, the episode started of by a women sat in an hospital and with a blue night gawn with a very scrafy prsented look, washed out face. this scene began with a close up of the women(kat) and zoomed out to show the location( hospital) and other characters.
the second shot was on a complete diffrent location of a couple and a new born baby in the bedroom,the shot was quit dark and the women in this shot was looking depresed watching upon her hasband and her new child. this shot lasted about 10 seconds
after this shot there were to small shots shown of new charcters binding in there own lifes
the fifth shot was again at the hospital with the two charcters(KAT) and her husband this carried on from the first shot of them. after a few seconds in to this shot a docter comes onscrean stateing " woul you like to see tommy now" this gives an impersion as if some one close to the couple is in a critical condition. although the docter has come out to the couple and made astatement it hasn't effect kat.
throught the whole of this episode the naritive of the camera and the shot explain the story before it is told by the diologe. the episode keeps jumping from diffrent stories in each shots and binding them together, this also helps explain that time that there are diifrent life's are faceing many situation at a same time. eg whaereas there is problems in one's life there is happiness in anathers life when a couple has found a home for them and the childern to live togather. whereas kats child die's and the difficult time she is going though. this is shown when kat comes home from the hospital and sits in her bedroom in darkness singing nersery rymes to her childs belongeing eg shoes.
On the other hand relationship diffucluties are shown when a man finds out that his boyfriend cheated him when he kissed anather man.
this episode lasted about 25 minutes and it didnt have a any breaks between the drama but the advertisment after the show was just the promoting other drama series and some perfume adverts.
Hotel Babylon:
The representation of ethnicity have been presented in many different ways throughout. the fact that it focuses on ethnic minorities as to being disadvantaged since they were hidden in the lower part of the hotel by the supervisors to be kept away from the inspector demonstrate that they are seen inferior and have not much statues and say in many matters. although there were representation of ethnicity shown in a stereotypical manner many were challenged.We see this when a black cleaner speaks of a women that has fainted in the locked room, explaining the cause of this was due to her diabetic condition. he than also gives a cure to the situation by putting jam into her mouth and explaining his process as he had been a doctor he also adds at the end "I WAS'NT ALWAYS A CLEANER" the connotation to this would be that the character seems to be well educated due to the stereotypical labels he may have been forced by situations in life to be in the the position he is at the moment. This could also relate to the his ethnicity.
REVISION
The role and responsibilities of the producer is to plan and be in control of the the whole film process even before and after the filming. producers have the role to select the story, script and pick the director for his movie he also has a set budget to select the location, actors pick music and be involved with setting the shooting schedule. although they may have assistance to help with the process. many decisions are made by the producer even involved with the development and promotion.
